Sir Harry Solomon (born 1937) is the founder of Hillsdown Holdings, one of the United Kingdom's largest food businesses. ==Career== Educated at St Albans School〔(Old Albanian Club )〕 in Hertfordshire, Harry Solomon qualified as a solicitor in 1960 and went on to practise law.〔(Westcity: The Board )〕 He founded ''Solomon Taylor & Shaw'' in Hampstead in the 1970s.〔(Solomon Taylor & Shaw )〕 In 1976 he co-founded Hillsdown Holdings and built it into one of the United Kingdom's largest food businesses.〔 He retired from the business in 1993.〔(Solomon finds it hard to let go ) The Independent, 17 December 1992〕 He is now a member of the Senior Management of the Portland Trust, which promotes peace and stability between the Israelis and the Palestinians.〔(Global security: the Middle East, eighth report of session 2006-07, Page 99 )〕 He is also a Non-Executive Director of Portland Capital〔(Portland Capital: The Board )〕 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.〔 He was knighted in 1991 for services to the food industry.
